Section 117 of the Succession Act 1965 provides that a child (including adult child) of a deceased parent who made a will can apply to court for a declaration that the parent failed in their 'moral duty to make proper provision for the child' in accordance with the parent's means.

A will is a written document that sets out what you would like to happen to your possessions after you die. There are specific provision set out in the Succession Act 1965 which govern the correct making of a will. 

The Personal Injuries Guidelines were adopted by the Judicial Council on 6 March 2021. The Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD, appointed Saturday 24 April 2021 as the commencement date of the Personal Injuries Guidelines.
